This is some useful information to know if you want to borrow books from the Library collections:

  • Checking out books. Our stacks have reopened! Patrons can freely browse the shelves to search for books and check them out at the Welcome Desk. Hold requests can only be accepted on books that are currently checked out.
  • Quarantine. Returned books will be quarantined for 4 days.
  • Reserve books. Reserve books can be checked out for in-library use for 3-hour periods from the Welcome Desk. They will not undergo quarantine upon return. We do recommend frequent hand washing and hand sanitizing with provided gel. Masks must be worn at all times.
  • Returning Books: Checked out books can be returned via the blue Book Drop near the Guarini campus entrance without coming down to the Welcome Desk. Reserve books, however, should be returned to the Welcome Desk instead.

Borrowing Policies. For more information on our borrowing polices, please visit our Access and Borrowing Policies page and choose your patron type.

We put books that have been checked out for 2 or more weeks in quarantine for 4 days as the safest and most efficient way of sanitation after books are used/returned by a patron. We stay abreast with the REALM Project recommendations for cleaning and disinfection.

During the quarantine period, the books are placed on a separate shelf in the stacks. After the quarantine period, books are reshelved and become available for circulation again.

Objects such as DVDs, headphones, laptops, etc., are immediately sanitized after usage. A 7 days quarantine is applied to all returning paper-based items, which cannot tolerate sanitation.

The Library staff constantly use hand sanitizer when managing books and other objects.
