Held in June, Pride Month celebrates and commemorates LGBTQIA+ Pride.
June was recognized as Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in 1999 by US President Bill Clinton to mark the anniversary of Stonewall.
In June 28th, 1969, there was an uprising after a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located in Lower Manhattan in New York City. The following year the first Pride March was held to continue the protest for the gay liberation.
Today, many marches are organized all around the world to celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride.
