Frohring Library Privacy Policy

The Frohring Library Privacy Policy is intended to be read in conjunction with the overarching JCU Privacy Policy.   

 

User information held by the Frohring Library 

To provide an effective library service, the Frohring Library collects and holds some personal information. The information we hold can include but may not be limited to: 

 

Library Management System (WorldShare Management System) 

  • Name 

  • Address 

  • Preferred name 

  • Contact details 

  • Transaction history, e.g. loans, request, holds and reservations 

  • Fines and fees 

 

Library website  

  • Event and room booking history  

  • Data submitted via request forms  

 

Other 

  • Direct email enquiries  

  • Submissions to the institutional repository 

  • Photos for guests IDs (the photo is kept only for printing the ID to access the premises, and it is deleted immediately after the ID is printed)

 

How we use the personal information 

The Frohring Library’s primary use of personal information includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Managing user library accounts to enable use of the library facilities  

  • Sending information relating to users’ library account and library services, e.g. overdue item notifications and event reminders 

  • Planning the provision of library services  

  • Monitoring performance e.g. library subscriptions  

  • Satisfying our legal obligations  

 

How long we keep personal information 

The Frohring Library will not retain any personal information for longer than is necessary. Different retention periods may apply for different types of information.  This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as needed.
