Library Orientation Guide: Home

A quick, easy and descriptive guide meant to be shared to students during Orientation in order to help them to get acquainted with our services

Welcome to the Frohring Library!

The Frohring Library, located on the Guarini Campus, offers a wide range of services to the students, faculty, and staff of John Cabot University. Our collection includes thousands of books, online resources, and databases to support your studies and research.

The library is divided into three sections, each offering different features, services, and resources.

We are almost always open, with extended hours during exam weeks. Be sure to check our website for the latest opening hours.

Aurelian Wing

The Aurelian Wing is a quiet study area. Here you will find:

  • Art History section and Reference collection
  • Reference Help Desk
  • Computers and a printer

The seats and computers in the Aurelian Wing should be booked in advance on the library website.

Main Section

Located on the lower floor, here you will find:

  • The Welcome Desk and three reading rooms, which are group study areas—where you can talk (quietly! It’s still a library).
  • Stacks containing most of our collection.
  • Two private study rooms and the G.L.1 classroom.

Learning Hall

The Learning Hall is a group study area. The library workshops are usually held here, and you’ll also find computers, and two Bloomberg Terminals.

The computers and Bloomberg Terminals in the Learning Hall should be booked in advance on the library website.

Upper Reading Room

This reading room is a quiet study area, and it occasionally hosts art exhibits organized by the Art History Society.

Circulation Services

At the entrance of the Main Section, you'll find the Welcome Desk.
Here you can:

  • Get assistance with finding books and other library resources.
  • Check out and return books, laptops, chargers, and more.
  • Check out the Required Readings for your course, which can be used in the library for up to 3 hours.
  • Scan documents and print.

In the Main Section you'll find two Private Study Rooms that must be booked through our website; patrons can reserve them for up to two hours per day. The Group Study Room (G.L.1) will be available for bookings when classes are not scheduled.

If you need help with anything, just ask! We are happy to assist you in finding what you need.

Reference Services

The Reference Librarians are always available in the Library to help patrons with their questions, to assist them in their research, and to provide instruction on library resources and research techniques. They can help you with:

  • Help you with finding sources for your assignments;
  • Check your citations (in MLA, Chicago, or APA) and bibliographies;
  • Guide you through the many databases available among our resources.

Feel free to ask the librarian at the Reference Desk in the Aurelian Wing for help, but we strongly recommend booking an appointment with one of them to ensure you get the assistance you need. Click the link below or the "Reference Help" link in our main website.
