🌍 Happy Earth Day

Today, as we celebrate the beauty and wonder of our planet, it's essential to confront one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time: plastic pollution. This year's Earth Day theme, "Planet vs Plastic," shines a spotlight on the urgent need to address the proliferation of plastic waste in our oceans, landfills, and ecosystems.

We regret to inform you that there will be an interruption in our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services from April 17 to April 21, along with the temporary closure of a section of our library on Friday April 19. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and apologize for any disruption to your research or reading plans.

Interruption of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services:

Our Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery services, which allow you to borrow materials from other libraries beyond our collection, will be temporarily unavailable until Sunday April 21. You can still make requests for items you might need but those requests will be processed starting from Monday April 22. We appreciate your patience during these few days of service interruption.

Temporary Closure of Main Library:

Additionally, on Friday, April 19, the main section of the library and the Welcome Desk will be closed from 2pm to 5pm. This closure is necessary to allow the library staff to attend a mandatory training.

While we strive to minimize disruptions, this temporary closure may affect access to certain services and resources in that area.

Impact on Services:

During this period, please note the following:

  1. Any circulation operation will not be possible. Equipment check out will be available until 2am. Items can be returned in the drop box located nest to the water fountain in the Guarini entrance.
  2. The area of the library will be inaccessible, as well as the Private Study Rooms.
  3. Reference assistance will not be available in any area of the library.
  4. The Aurelian Wing and the Upper Reading Room will remain available as reading rooms.
  5. The book collection in the Aurelian Wing remains available for consultation. If patrons need to check out books from that section, they will have to wait until the Welcome Desk reopens.

Alternative Resources and Assistance:

While these services are temporarily unavailable, we encourage you to explore our digital collections, online databases, and other resources available through our website. Assistance will resume as soon as the the library staff will reopen the main section of the library.

Reopening and Service Resumption:

We are committed to reopening the affected library area and resuming all services promptly on Friday.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by these temporary disruptions.
